2026\u20132027 Tryout Information<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Players interested in trying out must register for the 2027 tryout registration when it opens.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Registration Opens:<\/strong> June 1<\/li>\n
  • Tryout Registration Deadline:<\/strong> July 19th\u00a0<\/li>\n
  • Final Registration Deadline for competitive 2027 season:<\/strong> October 31st (for players not<\/em> attending tryouts)<\/li>\n
  • Registration Process: <\/strong>All players should register for your age group<\/span>– once tryouts are complete we will move players for the academy teams to the correct registration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Note:<\/strong> U9 and U10 players do not<\/strong> attend tryouts. Registration for U9\/U10 also closes October 31st<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

    Who Are Tryouts For?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Tryouts are held for players in U11\u2013U18<\/strong>. While not mandatory, they are highly encouraged<\/strong>, especially for those seeking placement on higher-level teams.<\/p>\n

    At North Star FC, we aim to form teams at multiple competitive levels based on player ability and numbers:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Division 3 (D3)<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Division 2 (D2)<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Division 1 (D1)<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • NPL Premier<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • ECNL Regional League (ECNL RL)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n

      Note: NPL Premier and ECNL RL begin at the U13 level.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      \n

      Academy Teams\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Academy teams begin at U13<\/strong> for both boys and girls<\/li>\n
      • U13 & U14 Academy teams<\/strong> (NPL Premier or ECNL RL) begin play in the Fall- HS play is not allowed<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • U15 and older Academy teams<\/strong> begin training in November<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Teams competing in the TCSL National League<\/strong> will begin training in January<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Registration- register for the 2027 Spring\/Summer Competitive Tryouts- once tryouts are completed we will move the players that make the academy team to the academy registration.<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • **If you are unable to attend tryouts and would like to be considered for an academy team, please email Leo Barbosa- lbarbosa@northstarfc.com<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Academy rosters will be finalized shortly after tryouts<\/strong>, while D3, D2, and D1 team placements will be completed by late November<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        Players from Other Clubs<\/strong><\/h3>\n

        Players from neighboring clubs are welcome to attend Academy tryouts. If a player does not make a North Star FC Academy team, they may request a release to return to their home club<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        Team Formation & Placement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

        To build the strongest teams possible, some age groups may be combined<\/strong>. Final team placements will be based on tryout performance and coach evaluations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

          The ultimate goal of tryouts is to have a ranking for every player in the age group completed by our technical staff.<\/span><\/h3>\n

          • As players arrive, they are to check in at the shed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Evaluators line up players and cross check numbers with google spreadsheet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              • Players are then randomly assigned at the first tryout to a team to play (number of teams and what we play 7v7 \/ 9v9 are dependent on the number of players signed up).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  • We have a minimum of two fields, field A and field B.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                      \n
                    • Field A can be considered the higher level of play and field B the lower.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      • Every 15 minutes players are moved between groups based on their ability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                          \n
                        • At the end of the session the evaluators have ranked all players on their field 1-X (there are evaluators for each field and then a senior staff (Angelo Tartaglia\/ Leo Barbosa) member overseeing).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          • Players are thanked and then dismissed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              The most time consuming data point is getting all the past season coaches together for the age group to review placements- due to everyone’s busy schedule this takes the most time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

                              All teams with the exception of Academy (Select) level teams will not be announced until the fall season data is collected. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                              NPL \/ ECNL League Teams will be announced as quickly as possible.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

                              Players are only allowed to try up an age group if they already are on the top team in the age group they are trying up for. <\/span><\/p>\n

                              For example, if a true u14 for the 2025 season (birth year 2012) is on the top U15 team for the 2025 season, that player can try up for the 2026 season. <\/span><\/p>\n

                              All other players CAN NOT try up unless they are invited to do so by the coaching staff.<\/span><\/p>\n
